Application Deadlines
Staying ahead of the curve in terms of applying to university or college is incredibly important. This all comes down to preparation, and knowing when course applications open, and when their deadlines are.
In Scotland, the majority of university courses have an application deadline of the end of January. These are for courses that start after that year’s summer holidays. However, due to the high demand, preparation and nature of some courses such as Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine, these courses will have an earlier application deadline. These will be during October of the prior year. You can access all of the most up to date information on opening dates and deadlines on UCAS, or on university websites. For most courses starting in 2024, the UCAS application deadline is on the 31st January, 2024.
For colleges, applications will open before the university deadline. Applications for courses at colleges around Scotland will become available in the middle of January, however each college will have their own opening date. You can access information on colleges, course content and important dates on each college website.
In terms of applying for student finance, SAAS (the Student Awards Agency for Scotland) will begin accepting applications for student loans and bursaries on 1st April, 2024 for this upcoming year.
